Socialist Party double

The Socialist Party in France ceased to be a long time ago. But its zombie double shuffles on yet does not even quite manage to get through the motions. At the last Presidential elections, its latest curator, Segolen Royale was criticised in the media for always wearing white. This, of course, is the most appropriate colour. Bleached of any of its past 'radicalism', its membership drained away, Royale's ghostly apparitions on the screens and in the papers encapsulated its true position.
Even the 'triumph' in last March's municipal elections (just about reversing the 53-47% result of May last year) had all the political bouyancy of a well intentioned obituary.
